There will be an MYHA/Dunn County Cougars Alumni Celebration Weekend including a Rob Smith Memorial Game & Alumni Game on December 10th!   

Dear MYHA & Dunn County Cougars Alumni, Family, Friends & Supporters,

50 years? That’s right. MYHA has been around for 50 years thanks to many amazing volunteers, players, and families!! We had a great kick off celebration in October and are planning to continue the celebration with a 50th MYHA Alumni Celebration Weekend Dec 9-11, 2022!!

Friday night we welcome everyone to come check out the Fanetti Community Center and Ice Arena. While you are there watch UW Stout take on UW River Falls. The MYHA Mites will be playing between periods. Concessions and beer sales will be open. This is a great chance to catch up with old friends or enjoy a night with the family.

Saturday we will have “Hockey Day Menomonie” with MYHA games from various levels throughout the day (the full calendar is on our website). This includes a special match up in honor of MYHA alum Rob Smith. The Smith family has been a very generous supporter of MYHA over the years and each year a Peewee player who demonstrates attributes similar to Rob receives the Rob Smith award. Rob passed away 10 years ago but passed on his love for hockey to his son Finn who is now a Peewee for Prior Lake. The MYHA Peewee A team will play Prior Lake Saturday at 5pm for the Rob Smith Memorial Game! We will recognize all Rob Smith Award winners & the 1991 State Hockey Team between periods.

SATURDAY 50th CELEBRATION: After the Rob Smith Memorial Game we will have Happy Hour starting at 6pm. During that time, we will be playing the 1991 High School State Championship game. We will be hosting an Alumni Hockey Game at 7:30pm, open to any and all MYHA and/or HS/Co-op Hockey Alumni. If you are interested in playing, please sign up using the link on the invite. We will have plenty of great food available in the concession stand (including special menu items), the bar will be open, there will be silent auction items, raffle baskets, and Coach Terry Watkins and Coach Ed Roethke will be giving an alumni address after the game. Following the alumni address, DJ Bob Brandt will help us continue the celebration!! We have two hotel room blocks set up (see below).

Sunday morning, we will have a community breakfast with Bloody Mary Bar from 8 am to 11 am. Following that our MYHA youth will be back on the ice with more games for another “Hockey Day Menomonie.”

We would like to encourage your attendance at what is sure to be a fun event. It is a great opportunity to support the next generation of hockey players while taking a trip down memory lane. We hope you will come and help us celebrate the last 50 amazing years that you have helped build and/or be part of!! Help us spread the word!

All MYHA skaters are encouraged to participate in our 50th Anniversary 3X3 Tournament October 7th-9th! This is a fast-paced and fun game that allows skaters to compete with others in their birth year. Skaters can register as a team of 4, goalies register individually. For younger skaters, this is a great opportunity to get a lot of ice time in a fun way that will get them excited for the start of the season. For older skaters, this is happening the weekend before tryouts, so is an excellent opportunity to practice skills and speed! The schedule will be arranged so that older players will be done in time for 7X7 football Sunday afternoon.

To kick off the 50th Anniversary year, MYHA is hosting a Kick-Off Party on Saturday, October 8th, including a Barn Dance with the Bear Creek Band, Food Trucks, a Beer Garden, and events for kids! We hope to see you all there, and it is also helpful if you respond and invite others using the Facebook event page, to help spread the word!
