Dear Club Families:

I want to address what player safety currently looks like, today, in the State of Wisconsin, regarding soccer; what it will likely look like when we get to the Week of August 3rd (The start of the fall season – Practices); and, what we hope it will look like by Saturday, August 29th (The first competitive matches for most teams).

In short, Wisconsin soccer is in what is called Phase II. The Phase II plan is a combination of Phase I’s and Phase II’s guidelines for player safety set by U.S. Soccer to “Play On,” or, “Return to Play,” as called by the Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association. This means low numbers, socially-distanced practices can take place with masked coaches, BUT there can be no scrimmages, games, competitions, or tournaments. We will likely still be in Phase II by the start of the season – Week of August 3rd.

By the time we get to Saturday, August 29th, the hope is we will be in Phase III. THIS will allow us to scrimmage and play in games/competitions/tournaments.

At present, both Competitive and Recreational options are open to register. Competitive registration closes on Sunday, July 19th at 6 p.m. EXCEPT for the 19U Girls team, which closes on Sunday the 26th. Recreational registration closes on Sunday, August 15th. If you need assistance registering, please contact our registrar at registrar@menomonieareasoccer.org

For Competitive players, you will receive an email from me about uniforms for fall toward the end of the week. We will then jointly work through the uniform process during the Week of July 20th in an attempt to keep uniform costs down, knowing the club is moving on to new club kits in Spring 2021.

I plan to follow up will all club members, again, by Sunday, July 26th, to give a player safety “Update!” on the status of fall play. However, in the meantime, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at president@menomonieareasoccer.org

In soccer,
