Important updates on the plan for fall soccer

Hello, Menomonie Soccer Families—

I want to reach out to you to communicate the status of youth soccer in our state, Menomonie’s plans for Fall 2020, and “Next Steps” for bringing our soccer programming back online, meaning “in-person.”

In short, Menomonie will open its Recreational and Competitive registration on Monday, July 6. Recreational players will have until Saturday, August 15, to register. Competitive players will have until Sunday, July 19, to register – A much shorter window, so please take note!

Competitive Soccer:

Competitive practice for all teams—10U Co-ed, 12U Girls & Boys, and 14U Girls & Boys will begin the Week of August 3rd. The 19U High School Girls competitive team will being once the high school’s Girls Team concludes for the summer, if they end up having a season. If not, the 19U Girls, too, will being the Week of the 3rd. Further, the season will run from September 15th to November 15th, with some “friendlies” before September 15th and some friendlies (likely) indoors at the tail-end of the season. *Note: There are no competitive soccer tryouts this fall. If your player would like to register to play competitive soccer, they can do so without a tryout.

Recreational Soccer:

Recreational practice for all teams will (tentatively) begin the Week of September 7th. Games, including one “Jamboree” day, will be on the following Saturdays – September 12th, 19th, and 26th, and October 3rd, 10th, and 17th.

COVID-19 & Player Safety:

  • Being in unique times, the Menomonie Area Soccer (MAS) wants you to know player safety is first and foremost in all of our programming, practices, and games. That said, MAS will follow federal, state, county, U.S. Soccer, and Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association guidelines to resume play. We are currently in what is called “Phase II.” This includes, but is not limited to:
  • • Facility cleanings (restrooms, equipment, etc.) as according to Phase I. • Daily player “check ins” as according to Phase I.
  • • No club team scrimmages (12U Girls vs. 12U Boys) as according to Phase I.
  • • No “guest” coaches/trainers (excluding our Goalie Trainer) as according to Phase I.
  • • Appropriate social distancing among coaches and players; coaches wear masks.
  • • Full-team training allowed under Phase II.
  • • Families sign COVID-19 release.
  •
  • I am sure questions, comments, and concerns will arise as we collectively navigate into this unchartered territory. If questions/comments/concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at president@menomonieareasoccer.org
  •
  • Happy to be “Back!”
